The Resolution

The following resolution is available for use to an entity that would like to support the fair playoff initiative.  Please notify us of any resolution that is passed by emailing fairplayoffs@gmail.com. We also highly recommend sending a copy via U.S. Mail to the attention of Mark Uyl, Executive Director Michigan High School Athletic Association. 1661 Ramblewood Drive. East Lansing, MI 48823.

WHEREAS, private schools represent just 14% of all MHSAA member schools but win 31% of the state titles, twice as many as they statistically should;

WHEREAS, private schools win 45% of the state titles in the lower half of the divisions of the MHSAA playoffs, three times as many as they statistically should;

WHEREAS, we believe the MHSAA playoff system should be fair and have as much competitive balance as possible;

THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED that (insert entity here) supports the opportunity for MHSAA member schools to vote on whether or not a competitive balance plan should be implemented for all MHSAA playoffs.

THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED that (insert entity here) believes that if the majority of MHSAA member schools support instituting a competitive balance plan then member schools should be provided an opportunity to vote on the exact plan to be implemented.
